December 7, 1999: STATS Inc has published its 2000 Major League Players Handbook, probably the best friend an ALB owner ever had. It includes practically every stat you need, lefty/righty splits, ballpark factors, fielding and projections for next season. It costs $19.95 and is available online.
The Sporting News Fantasy Baseball issue will be out on January 11. This is the source of the ALB salaries and is priced at $6.99. I will let everyone know when the first magazine is spotted on the racks.
Also, the 1999 stats should be available from DMB starting next week. When I get them, I will update all the rosters with new stats and remove any players that do not meet the minimum requirements (100 AB, 30 IP/30 GP), so if you plan to grandfather a player (see the rules for more info), please let me know ASAP.
Anyone who does not have a Yahoo ID for the Yahoo ALB Club should email me, as I need to send an invitation (the Club is private). I plan to do away with the message board and exclusively use the Club for the draft, messages and chats. By the way, the chat room isn't a bad way to deal. I hope to arrange winter meetings in the near future to encourage trading and camaraderie.
I have added a few proposed rule changes to the ALB for the 2000 season. As per any change, they will not be made official until after I receive feedback. Please read them and let me know how they sound. And if you have any ideas to improve the ALB, I am always happy to hear suggestions.
Finally, if anyone does not plan to continue in the ALB, please let me know so we can get those teams into new hands. I'm not trying to force anyone to drop out, its just a fact we usually lose an owner or two each year. That's just how it goes. But I'd like to have new owners enjoy the offseason instead of having teams waste away during prime trading time.

November 18, 1999: I finally got around to making a requested name change. The Northside Slack have become the Ekola Outbreak (logo coming soon, right Milt?).

September 16, 1999: Whether you realize it or not, the Apartment League Baseball web site has moved to a new server at users.ev1.net/~marceck/alb. The old site will continue to work for a while (until that account expires), but I recommend you change your bookmarks to the new site.

September 11, 1999: Roster Expansion was one of the larger, if not the largest, ever. Eleven teams selected players, some with their eyes on the post season, others looking toward next year.

Feb. 17, 1999: I have begun the daunting task of assembling career statistics for the Apartment League. I will post them as I progress, and they will be accessible from the Hall of Fame Page. Eventually, there will be a career leader section as well. Feel free to check out the results so far.

Feb. 14, 1999: Don't forget to mark your calendars for March 24 and April 10. March 24 is the due date for all protected lists prior to the April 10 draft. The draft will be held at the Commish's apartment, into which he is moving in the next week or so. If you are unable or unwilling to attend, be sure you are proficient with the chat room on our Yahoo ALB club so you can attend online. Of course, then you have to supply your own beer.

Jan. 7, 1999: Both the menu below and the roster list on the Stats page have been organized into the new proposed divisions to allow owners to see their divisional rivals. I am still accepting feedback before making this permanent. Also, I have officially eliminated the Reserve List from the official rules. It had outlived its usefulness.

Jan. 6, 1999: ALB Winter Meetings will be held on January 7 at 7 PM CST. We will meet in the Yahoo Club chat room.

Dec. 28, 1998: The DMB data has finally come out and I've updated the rosters and real stats with 1998 numbers.

Dec. 20, 1998: Yes! The official 1999 ALB salaries are here. They are listed in the Sporting News' 1999 Fantasy Baseball Owners Manual (a magazine), so I recommend you look for a copy. I have also set some dates for Roster Protection, the Draft and a few other ALB events. Mark your calendar's for April 10 and the annual draft party.

Dec. 19, 1998: An ALB "club" through Yahoo has been set up to allow us access to a private chat room, etc. Try the link on the menu below. If you are not a member of the club, you must be invited to join. Please email the Commish to request an invitation.

Dec. 14, 1998: The short-lived Hasbeens name has been eliminated. Rolf has renamed them the Texas Stampede.

Dec. 12, 1998:
PROPOSED REALIGNMENT. There have been several inquiries as to potential realignment. Here is what I've come up with. I tried to link owners together with others that have things in common, but it wasn't always possible. These are not set in stone. I welcome any feedback or suggestions. Also, we will keep the leagues as Flitter and Whipsaw to preserve posterity, but I figure we need new names for the divisions. So I'm taking requests. I have not figured out which divisions will be Flitter and which will be Whipsaw, but will likely try to arrange things so as many teams as possible remain in their old league. Now, here they are:

WILDCARD ROUND. Finally, adding a wildcard round to the playoffs seems to be popular. So, the plan for next season will include a three-tier playoff system. In the first round, the wildcard team from each league (best record, non division winner) will meet the division winner with the lesser record. The division winner with the best record in each league gets a first-round bye. The winner of the first round will play the other division winner in round two for the league championship. The third round will pit the league champs against one another in the World Series for the ALB crown.

Dec. 7, 1998: Yes, we have yet another new owner. Rick Reeves has retired from the Seafarers. In his place, we welcome Carlos Ramon into the league. This makes four new owners for the 1999 season, including Kevin (Saturn), Rolf (Stampede) and Chad (Jersey Jews).

Nov. 22, 1998: OK, Chad has been working on a message board for the ALB. This can be used to to place players "on the trading block," to inquire as to available players or for any general bragging or taunting. Just click on the "Message" option on the menu below.

Nov. 16, 1998: We have a new owner in the ALB, Chad Magill. With Mark Pedersen moving to the pacific northwest, he decided to pass the Jersey Jews on to Chad with the condition the name stay unchanged for a year. Mark will remain in contact as the official logo designer of the ALB.

Nov. 15, 1998: I have finally started working on a FAQ for the league. If anyone has questions to be added, let me know.

Oct 14, 1998: Get ready for next year, the 10th season of ALB. Suggestions, info and ideas will be posted as available on the 1999 page.
